What are Superfoods and Their Benefits for Your Health

The term Superfood appeared frequently from the end of the 20th century. That refers to natural foods that have nutritional power and health benefits. Indeed, you can find them in vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. Most of the times, superfoods are plant-based (beans, broccoli, quinoa, tea) but we can find them in the form of fishes or fruits.

So let’s concretely talk about the superfoods and their benefits for your health.

 

Plant-based:

For most people, superfood is related to plant-based. That’s not a fact but there are many plant-based foods which can be called “superfood”. Well, let’s go to discover them together.

Indeed, we can find a lot of different nutrient such as protein (best-known) and also a lot of minerals (zinc, iron, manganese and so on) and vitamins (E, B3, B1, B2, B6). Moreover, quinoa is gluten-free.

We can find it in proteins again, fibres, vitamins (A, C, K, B9) and minerals (potassium, phosphorus, selenium). Therefore, broccoli is a good source of antioxidant. Fishes:

Salmon:

The most popular nutrient fish is obviously the salmon. As you probably know, salmon is a fresh water fish (with some exceptions) which has a lot of nutrient resources. First of all, salmon is one of the richest sources of omega-3 fatty acids that is essential for the body. It is also a huge source of vitamin B. Moreover, this pinky flesh contains antioxidant as well.

On top of that, you can cook it in many different ways (such as grilled, smoked or in a salad) and it has still an excellent taste.

 

Sardines:

To continue in the fish family. Let’s talk about sardines. Indeed, there are an excellent source of vitamin B12 and calcium which are essential for the skeletal development. Like salmons, you can find omega 3 fatty-acids in sardines and also vitamins and minerals.

Sardines are a good option to be healthy and in shape. And to build muscle if you look for it as well.

 

Fruits:

Blueberries:

More popular and well-known superfoods, blueberries have many benefits.

First of all, it’s well known that red fruit in general contains a lot of nutrient. Indeed, you can find fibre, vitamin C, vitamin K and manganese in there. Additionally, blueberries are very low in calories thanks to its 85% water. Not bad to rehydrating yourself as well.

Like any other superfoods, they contain an antioxidant power. Moreover, they maintain healthy bones and can lower blood pressure. Blueberries are thus a very interesting option for you to stay healthy.

 

Strawberries:

Then, one of many people favorite fruit, strawberry, is powerful. First of all, it can strengthen your immune system. It helps to lowering blood pressure. And as broccoli it can be a great armour against cancer. Strawberries, such as blueberries, contain fibre, vitamin c and antioxidant.

On top of these benefits, strawberries are excellent and generally liked by all the people. We recommend that you eat them for dessert to finish a good and healthy meal.
